Department of Chemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata

The activities as organized by the JU student Chapter during 2015-16 are:


CHEMATHLON-2016 was a rip-roaring gala event of its kind organized by the chapter in March 2016. Around 500 students from across the universities & Institutions like St. Xaviers, IEM, Heritage Institute Technology, Techno India and Presidency participated in several individual events staring from football tournament, Quiz competition to "Start-up Case Challenge Event". Eminent academicians were actively involved in each of the events and graced august gathering with motivational speech. The winners of the events were recognized and was awarded with prizes as a token of appreciation by Dr Rajat Chakraborty, the coordinator of the student chapter. CHEMATHLON-2016 activities were widely covered in dailies like "The Telegraph You" and 91.9 Friends FM as they were the media partners for CHEMTHLON-2016.

b) INNOVA-2016

INNOVA-2016 was organized at the auditorium of Dr. H. L. Roy Building and the occasion was graced with the invited speech on "Chemical Reaction Engineering and Heterogeneous Catalytic Process" by Dr. N. C. Pradhan, professor & former HOD at Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT-Kharagpur.

Dr. Brajesh Kumar Dubey, Associate Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, IIT-Kharagpur shared his experience in the field of Environmental Engineering especially on "Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)" followed by briefing given on research area of Computational Fluid Dynamics by Dr. Indranil Saha Dalal, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, IIT-Kanpur.

The program in University campus was overwhelmed with over 230 promising & enthusiastic students and was showered with innovative thoughts and ideas. Elite dignitaries with utmost zeal and enthusiasm had graced the following sessions/events:

INNOVA-2016 conducted the events in three categories:

Technical Paper Presentation Competition on theme title "Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development in the Field of Chemical & Allied Engineering"
- There were twelve participants from JU and nine participants from other universities/Institutions.

Chem-Innovation: An Oral Presentation Competition on the title "Innovative Development in Chemical Engineering Science"
- There were fifteen participants from JU and four participants from othere institutions who made oral presentation on the topic. The event was graced by the external eminent experts in the field of Chemical engineering and also the faculties in the Department of Chemical Engineering, JU.

Chem-E-Model display having one moving parts was an exhibition of innovative mind of the student members of IIChE, JU. Total participants across JU & other Institutions were twenty eighty in seven groups of four members in each group.

CRC extends its heartfelt thanks to JU Student Chapter and wish the chapter in their endeavor to greater heights in the coming year.

Calcutta Institute of Technology (CIT), Uluberia

TECHMAKE-2016 (Creative Model Presentation): The new Student Chapter organized a Creative Model Presentation by the students of CIT Uluberia on 27th February, 2016 at their campus. The model presentation was inaugurated by Dr. Debnath, Chairman, Bharat Consortium Institute and Sushanta K Roy, Hony. Regional Secretary, CRC, IIChE and was opened to the judges from Calcutta Regional Centre, IIChE.

B.Tech students from Department of Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Computer Science & Electrical Engineering displayed their innovative technical models for the judges.

It was a great event by the new chapter indeed and Calcutta Regional Centre extend its heartiest thanks to the coordinators for motivating the young minds.
